Introduction to my Plans of Escape

Travelling has always been one of my great passions, visiting countries, experiencing new culture and meeting new people. I brush on it occasionally in my blog (Here) but never really go into much detail. So I have decided to create this blog, imposing upon the travelling writers of the internet with my most excellent (In teh words of Bill and Ted) tales of adventure and plans of prosperity.

My only hope is that with the help of my readers, possible sponsors and gratefully received donations I will be able to afford to visit countries as far flung as Australia. After each journey I will give full accounts of my travels, the people I met and the places I saw.

Oops

I don't know why but I am finding it fairly hard to think of what to write about my travels, my life has been stupidly busy over the past few months so I haven't had much time to update, so heres a quick runddown of the road trip!

Reims - Saw A Notre Dame
La Rochelle - Saw Forte Boyard, a Cognac Distillery, the really hot French girl I stayed with and some awsome waves
Barcelona - Didn't get any chance to swim, Got Mugged, Got Very Drunk, still love the city!!!
Frejus - Met some pretty cool French Canadians, and a scarily intelligent guy who, while pure french and unable to understand english, picked up the card game shithead impressively quickly!
Marseille - Swam in the sea, strangely calm and shallow, met loads of cool people, chileld out for two days!
Munich - I really can't remember felt good about it all after I recovered from an immense hangover though!

5 Days Until I Leave for Europe

This Saturday me and my flat mate will once again be braving the lands of continental Europe, following ardious routes through the French Riviera, Spanish Coastlines and Techerous mountain passes of Switzerland

We will have to power through the torment given through the terrors of the La Rochelle coastline, the Beaches of Barcelona and the Beer Gardens of Munich.

If I survive this journey I will most probably write a thorough account of the hidden lands I discover, beautiful women I seduce and fine cool beers I have tasted from around the scorching lands.

All in all I am rather looking forward to it!

Two Week Europe Road trip - Preperation Begins!

So the route has been decided, the car is in working order, and yet now the real ordeal begins, what will we need and what should we take?

Based on last years road trip I can forget things this year such as rucksack, walking boots, campstove and tent. Instead I should begin to focus much more on things such as snacks, blankets, beach towels and tow rope.

But the mere act of preparing for this road trip has sparked that longing for adventure in me, I get itchy feet, I want to move to do things, to see new places and to explore other cultures. My mind races over the possibilities of the people we will meet, the stories they will tell and the unknown that we will discover.

I am still looking forward to the day when I can leave the working world behind and just wander.

So a the end of July Me and my flat mate will once again be traversing Europe, this time in a BMW that cost £409 off eBay (Damn inflation)

It looks like we will be following this route,

Wish us luck!

We will be visiting La Rochelle, My friend around 5 minutes drive south of La Rochelle, Barcelona, Montpelier, and then various places on the way to Munich (Going through Switzerland for cheap petrol) before heading home!

Steve

In our road trip around Europe we encountered something that at best could be called worrying, at worst downright scary.

That something was Steve.

We first met Steve in Munich, he seemed a nice enough guy and we chatted to him for a bit. However over the next few days we saw more and more of him. Everywhere we went, there was Steve.

This did not seem too worrying till we bumped into him in Marseille after wandering out of the carpark and down one of the main streets, it realy freaked us out when he mentioned montpellier and Barcelone, co-incidentally our next two destinations. (I also get the feeling we bumped into him in Italy, though I cannot remember where for the life of me!)

For this reason to this day I find myself constantly looking over my shoulder for Steve, just in case.

Tip of the Day - Be Careful of Your Name

I have been talking quite a lot to this French girl recently (Ohlala) who after 6 months of knowing me has only just informed me that in french my name, Oli, when said is often interpreted by French people as Au Lit.

This infact means goto bed.

Hence why when the French girl introduced me to her French friend as Oli while pointing her finger in my direction she seemed quite taken aback, I can only assume that this is because she thought my French friend was telling her to goto bed with me.

To make maters worse if I use my full name, Oliver, and say it in an English accent it sounds in French more like the feminine 'Olive'.

From now on in any visit to France I will take the pseudonym Frank.
